Minjee Lee registered a dominant U.S. Women’s Open win in North Carolina

Australian Minjee Lee shot 67-66-67-71 (13-under 271) to win the record setting U.S. Women’s Open by four strokes at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in North Carolina for her 2nd major title.

The 26-year-old Lee earned a record USD 1.8 million — the largest payout in women’s golf history — as part of the U.S. Open’s record US $10 million purse, almost double of what it was in 2021. She became just the third Australian to win the U.S. Women’s Open after Jan Stephenson and Karrie Webb. Coincidentally, Webb, claimed the second of her two U.S. Opens on the same course in 2001, and her caddie Jason Gilroyed was on Lee’s bag this week as well.

This is Lee’s eighth win on the LPGA, which ties her with Rachel Hetherington for the third-most wins by an Australian player. Webb leads the way with 41 titles followed by Stephenson with 16.

American Mina Harigae, who has yet to win on the LPGA, finished second.
