Sneha Sharan goes back-to-back as Big Sky Conference Player of the Year
Sneha Sharan, a 21-year-old from Bangalore, has capped off a remarkably successful 4 year collegiate golf journey at Sacramento State University, California, with her second consecutive Big Sky Conference Player of the Year title.
Sneha’s golf story began relatively late—at 15—after she tried golf at a Christmas party and instantly fell in love with the game. Balancing sports and studies was no easy feat. She scored 1450 on the SAT, maintained a top-3 IGU Women’s amateur ranking, and ultimately chose Sacramento State on a full golf scholarship, where she recently graduated with an outstanding 3.9 Grade Point Average ( GPA).
Her first year showed promise, but it was her 3rd season that truly stood out. She averaged 73.15 across 11 tournaments—the second-lowest in school history—and was named among the top players in her group of colleges (First Team All-Big Sky), dethroning her own teammate Jennifer Koga, who had won the title three years in a row.
Sneha’s journey wasn’t always smooth. Her sophomore ( 2nd) year was tough, often playing as an individual. But she used the experience to grow. “I just took it one stroke at a time and had fun,” she said.
Riding the momentum of her stellar 4th year (senior) season, Sneha recently qualified for the prestigious and highly competitive U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at the famous Bandon Dunes GC in Oregon, next month—adding another milestone to an already inspiring career.
As a parent shared: “These four years have taught her so much—on and off the course. It’s been a joy watching her grow.”
