Gaurav Ghosh and Ranjit Singh delivered standout performances at the All India Senior and Mid-Amateur Championships held at Classic Golf & Country Club, Gurgaon this week—both setting new benchmarks in their respective divisions.
Ghosh, the course captain at Royal Calcutta Golf Club, winner in 2023, fired rounds of 70-75-70 to finish at 1-under 215—the lowest winning total in tournament history for the senior division for a commanding five-shot win over Bangalore’s David D’Souza.
In the Mid-Amateur division (ages 35–50), Ranjit Singh, also from RCGC, son of double Asian Games gold medallist Bunny Lakshman Singh, successfully defended his national title with a record-setting 7-under 281. His third-round 65 was the highlight of the week, propelling him to a six-shot victory. His brother, Arjun Singh, also from RCGC, finished third for the second year in a row.
Lt. Col. Varoon Parmar finished runner-up at 1-under 287.
Among super seniors, Amardeep Singh Bajwa claimed the 65+ title with an 8-over 224, finishing third overall. Defending All India Seniors champion Sandeep Sandhu won the 60–64 category in a playoff, while veteran Gangesh Khaitan was runner-up in Category B with 14-over 230.
The championship saw 69 seniors and 39 mid-amateurs compete and the results will be used to select the Indian teams for the Asia Pacific Mid-Amateur in August and the Asia Pacific Seniors to be held in Manila this September.
