Three Indian amateurs are in Stuttgart, Germany this week for the prestigious MercedesTrophy World Final, playing three rounds from September 28–October 2 against nearly 200 golfers from 50 countries.
Bangalore’s Ishwar Kapsi topped the India qualifiers in the 0–15 handicap category with 39 points, Vijay C. Reddy of Hyderabad led the 16–18 category with 41 points, and Shiv Agarwal of Mumbai won the 19–24 category with 37 points to earn their spots.
The MercedesTrophy is one of the world’s most exclusive amateur golf events, attracting more than 60,000 participants from over 60 countries each year. Held at the home of Mercedes-Benz, the World Final blends high-level competition with legendary German hospitality.
As part of the India series, the “Drive to Major” contest sends one Indian golfer on a VIP trip to The Open Championship. This year Kedar Thapar won the prize with a drive just one foot from the center line on the par-5 16th during the national finals, earning a luxury trip to Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland, including championship rounds, exclusive hospitality and a Monday tee time on the same course.
The MercedesTrophy continues to give Indian amateurs a global stage while linking the spirit of the game with the heritage and luxury of Mercedes-Benz.
