Bangladesh’s Jamal Hossain clinched his sixth Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) title at the ₹1 crore Telangana Golconda Masters in Hyderabad after relentless rain washed out the final round. With play abandoned on Friday, his 54-hole total of 23-under 187 (61-62-64) stood as the winning score, earning him ₹15 lakh and lifting him to 10th on the PGTI rankings—crucial with only the top 25 set to qualify for next month’s DP World India Championship in Delhi.
Hossain’s victory follows Sri Lanka’s N Thangaraja winning the Chennai Open a week earlier, marking rare back-to-back international winners on the PGTI.
The 40-year-old from Dhaka dominated from start to finish, dropping just one bogey all week and opening with a tournament-low 61. “The first-day 61 really set up the week. My driving and putting were key, and this win gives me great confidence heading to Delhi,” said Hossain.
Chandigarh’s Akshay Sharma (62-64-65) finished runner-up at 19-under 191 to collect ₹10 lakh, while Bengaluru’s Khalin Joshi was third at 13-under 197. Delhi’s Arjun Prasad placed sixth at 11-under 199, staying second on the season’s money list behind leader Yuvraj Sandhu, who did not play. Local favourite Vishesh Sharma tied for 22nd at five-under 205
