Sri Lanka’s N. Thangaraja continued his red-hot form on the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), clinching the Bengaluru Open 2025 Powered by IndianOil for his second win in four weeks and third of the season. His closing round of two-under 69 at the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA) took him to 18-under 266, sealing a two-shot victory and marking his seventh professional title.
The victory reshaped the PGTI Order of Merit. Thangaraja’s ₹15 lakh winner’s cheque lifted his season earnings to ₹82.2 lakh, narrowing the gap with leader Yuvraj Sandhu to just ₹6.45 lakh. He now sits firmly in third place, setting up an intriguing three-way battle with Sandhu and Arjun Prasad, who finished tied 15th at seven-under 277.
Thangaraja credited a simple change in technique for his surge. “My game turned around after I changed my putting grip before the Chennai event,” he said. “Since then, I’ve been very consistent with the putter. I stayed focused and relaxed today, even when Manu [Gandas] was closing in.”
With the US$ 4 million DP World India Championship in Delhi just days away, Thangaraja’s late-season surge has added intensity to the merit list drama — a storyline that could define the PGTI season’s close.
Gurugram’s Manu Gandas finished runner-up at 16-under 268, while Rahil Gangjee (64) and Saptak Talwar (67) tied for third at 13-under. Seventeen-year-old Manoj S. of Bengaluru impressed with a 66 to take fifth, signaling the arrival of the next generation.
Noida amateur Kanav Chauhan (72) claimed the best amateur trophy at even-par, while Brijesh Kumar provided a moment of magic with a hole-in-one on the 15th.
With confidence high and momentum on his side, Thangaraja now turns his attention to Delhi. “These are good signs for me ahead of the DP World India Championship,” he said. “I want to carry this form and make a mark on the bigger stage.”
