22-year-old University of Oregon graduate Anika Varma made her debut on the US$60,000 Lake Charles Championship, the season opener on the Women’s All Pro Tour (WAPT) in Louisiana.
The WAPT is a third-tier professional tour in the United States, hosting 13 events each season with an average prize fund of around US$55,000. Supported by the Annika Foundation (of former World No 1 Annika Sorenstam), the tour offers key pathways, with the top five in the season-long points race earning entry into Stage II of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament, along with financial assistance from Callaway.
In addition, the top two finishers at each event receive exemptions into designated Epson Tour events, provided they are not already in the field. The WAPT serves as a feeder tour to the Epson Tour, the official qualifying circuit for the LPGA.
Varma went through Qualifying School for both the Ladies European Tour and LPGA in 2025, earning partial status on both circuits, which also makes her eligible to compete on the WAPT.
The tour is open to female professionals and amateurs ranked inside the top 400 of the World Amateur Golf Ranking, and players with a handicap of 4.0 or better.
We look forward to tracking Anika Varma’s progress in USA.
