AVT Champions Tour restarts in Delhi – Past Winners to Highlight the field !

AVT Champions Tour is all set to return on November 25th-26th, 2020 at the Classic Golf & Country Club in Gurugram. The AVT Champions Tour, supported by Ministry of Tourism under its ‘Incredible India’ campaign, caters to 50-year-olds and above golfers in India.

Star senior golfers who would be vying for top honours in Gurugram include former cricket world cup winning Indian captain Kapil Dev, former Asian Games Gold Medalist and 2018 IGU Senior All India National Champion Rishi Narain and three-time IGU Senior All India National Champion Gangesh Khaitan.

The inaugural event of the AVT Champions Tour in March 2019 saw Rishi Narain (76-70) and Kapil Dev (74-72) tied at the top and Rishi Narain was adjudged the winner based on the better final-round score.

The second leg of the tour was played out at Eagleton Golf Resort, Bangalore,  in June 2019, which saw over 94 seniors from all over the country tee-off, where former India International, Bengaluru’s own, David D’Souza claiming the title with a 36-hole total of 152, a massive seven-strokes ahead of local veteran G.S. Ravi.

The third leg of the AVT Tour was held at Oxford Golf Resort, Pune in September 2019 where Pushpendra Singh Rathore (71-72) with  143 over two days, emerged as the overall winner over David D Souza. In the 4th held at Tollygunge Club, Kolkata in January 2020 Mr Rathore again walked away with the title with a total of 154, with David D’Souza as runner-up.

The 2020 season which was originally scheduled to start in March 2020 was postponed due to ongoing global pandemic and now returns at Classic Golf & Country Club with a field of 100 entries.

The organising committee will follow mandated COVID-19 safety norms, taking utmost care of its participants, while not taking any fun away from competitive golf itself. AVT Champions Tour is a step forward in building a robust tour for senior golfers in India.
