Dhananjaya Das and Ishwar Achanta to Represent India at the The Duke of Edinburgh Cup Golf World Finals

Bengaluru August 25, 2018: The India edition of The Duke of Edinburgh Cup, a charity golf tournament in aid of Christel House India and presented by Apollo, saw two winners emerge on Saturday at Bengaluru’s Prestige Golfshire Club. Dhananjaya Das and Ishwar Achanta earned the right to represent India at the World Finals of the prestigious global tournament and will be playing at the private golf course of the Royal Family at the Windsor Castle, London. The World Finals are scheduled between September 30-October 6, 2018.

The winning team of Dhananjaya and Ishwar got the better of Shrenik Kumar and Navnit Gambhir playing in the two member team format. Apart from the Big Prize, the duo of Dhananjaya and Ishwar also took home a glittering trophy. For the runners-up team of Shrenik and Navnit, apart from the trophy there were also couple vouchers for the picturesque Serai Resort in Chikmaglur, Karnataka.

The India edition saw over 100 Golfers from Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai & Chennai participate. The two winners from the event will travel to London and compete against eight other countries.

Each year the World Finals are played at the private golf course of the Royal Family at the Windsor Castle, London. All the winners are invited for the Royal Champagne reception and prize giving dinner in the State Apartments of Windsor Castle.

The World Final is played as a two-member team event with the team with the lowest total score of both players being declared the winner. It sees around 70 participants representing the best Charity Golf Tournaments from around 12 countries including South Africa, Bahamas, UK, France and Ireland among others.

India will be searching for their second World Final winner with city golfer David D’Souza emerging triumphant at Windsor Castle back in 2012.
