Saptak is gaining vital experience in Europe this summer

26-year-old Delhi-born pro Saptak Talwar, who has been playing overseas since his college days, recorded a Tied-39th finish at the €300,000 Challenge de España, part of the DP World Tour’s development tour (formerly known as the Challenge Tour). Shooting rounds of 69-66-73-69 for a total of 7-under 277, Saptak made his fourth cut in five starts in his first full season on Tour after going through the Qualifier last winter.

In addition to his consistent run on the HotelPlanner Tour, Talwar notched his first professional win last month, in the ₹1.5 crore Adani Invitational on the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) at Jaypee Greens Golf & Spa Resort, Greater Noida.

The Top 20 at the end of the season on the Hotel Planner Tour earn promotion to the DP World Tour, so Talwar needs a string of Top-10s and wins in the coming months to stay in contention for a DPWT card.

The Challenge Tour also travels to India every March with two tournaments of €300,000 each. India’s Om Prakash Chouhan, won one of these co-sanctioned events in 2023 at the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA) in Bengaluru.

This year is also a new era for the Challenge Tour under its first-ever title sponsor, HotelPlanner, after signing a multi-year agreement to support the tour. The partnership has helped raise the overall season prize fund to over €9 million, with each European event now guaranteeing a minimum of €300,000 in prize money. A total of 16 events this year have seen purse increases, and HotelPlanner has directly invested in six tournaments to elevate event standards.

The Tour will now take a brief pause before resuming with the Danish Golf Challenge, scheduled to take place from May 22–25 in Denmark.
