Family talent blossoms

NEW DELHI

20-year-old Gurgaon golfer Sunhit Bishnoi shot rounds of 67-74-70-71 (6-under 282) to win the Indian Golf Union’s (IGU) Delhi State NCR Cup 2021 at Delhi Golf Club on March 19th, 2021. His elder sister Gaurika Bishnoi is already a prolific performer on the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour, having led the Order of Merit in 2017 & 2019. The family’s talent, hard work by dedicated parents and kids is starting to bear fruit.  

Sunhit had a notable junior career, where he won the 2017 Maharashtra Juniors and finished runner-up at the IGU’s All India Juniors. 

In 2018, Sunhit represented India at the Hong Kong Junior Open Championship and finished fourth with his scores of 74-78-66 (218), finished third at the Singapore Junior Championship with 72-70 (142) and 13th with his total of 74-72-72-74 (292) at the Malaysian Amateur Open.

So far in 2021, Sunhit has won twice – Champions of Classic Golf Challenge – 71-70-67 (208) in January and IGU Delhi State NCR Cup in March and finished tied-fourth at the Samarvir Shahi Amateur Championship (Feb 23-26) 74-73-75-73 (295) at Chandigarh Golf Club. Hard work by both brother and sister during the pandemic year is starting to pay off.
