Indian-Australian Arrow Shah won the Dustin Johnson World Junior
“Arrow” Aarav Shah, a junior golfer from Australia of Indian origin, became the first international winner of the Dustin Johnson World Junior played at TPC Myrtle Beach, as he won the tournament which concluded on March 2, by four strokes.
Arrow’s win adds his name to an elite list of past champions, including PGA TOUR winners Akshay Bhatia and Nick Dunlap, plus recent amateur standout Jackson Koivun.
Reflecting on his win, Arrow emphasised discipline and focus as key factors: “This course is tight and punishing around the greens. I stayed patient and focused on my attitude throughout. I knew scoring would be high, so I reminded myself to stay calm even after mistakes. Winning here means a lot. I’ve put in a lot of work, and this victory validates that effort.”
Another Indian-heritage golfer, USA’s Sohan Patel, and New Zealand’s Tyler Mawhinney secured a tie for second place with closing rounds of 72. The top-three finishers earn automatic invitations to next year’s event.
Tournament Legacy
Now in its 10th year, the Dustin Johnson World Junior continues to cement its reputation as a premier event for young golfers, with the playing field this year including Tiger Woods’ son Charlie Woods and Donald Trump’s granddaughter Kai Trump (both of whom missed the cut).
Last year’s champions, Ethan Paschal and Vanessa Borovilos, have since transitioned to the collegiate level, with Paschal playing for the University of North Carolina and Borovilos joining Texas A&M’s golf program.
