Having birdied her final hole in the second round to make the cut on the number, Aditi Ashok caught fire in her third and final round, racking up nine birdies on her way to a career-best 63 at the US$ 1.5mn LPGA Drive On Championship at Fort Myers.

Ashok began her final round with birdies on the first two holes and added three more to make the turn at 5-under 31. She proceeded to birdie four more holes on the back nine to come home in 32. Her success was largely down to one club – her putter – as she needed just 23 putts on the day.

“I was putting really good,” Ashok told the LPGA Tour website. “I made almost everything. Every chance I got, I made the putt, which was great.”

Ashok finished at 10-under 206 and earned US$ 19,871 (₹14.8 lacs). She shot 72-71 in her first two rounds. Ashok is currently averaging 29 putts per round this season, which puts her in a tie for 22nd on the LPGA tour with, among others, superstar Lydia Ko. Last year Inbee Park, widely regarded as one of the best putters in the history of the game, man or woman, led the tour in putting with an average of 28.71 putts per round.

Aditi Ashok’s Tournament Statistics:

Fairways – 36/42 (85.7%)

Greens – 41/54 (75.9%)

Sand saves – 3/3

Driving Avg. 245.3 yards

Putts – 85 (23 on Day 3)

The LPGA Tour will head to Singapore next for its Asian leg, starting with the US$ 1.7mn HSBC Women’s World Championship from March 3-6, followed by Honda LPGA in Thailand from March 10-13.
