Anika Varma, the 17-year-old who is originally from Noida but who’s family moved a few years ago to Sacramento, California, survived a five-person playoff in California to qualify for the prestigious and highly competitive U.S. Junior Girls’ Championship scheduled for July 18-24 in Kentucky..

Varma shot a two-over 74 after being 4 over in her first 4 holes but fought back with birdies and then parred the first extra hole in the playoff to book her spot for the tournament.

Varma will tee it up next at the prestigious Southern Amateur starting June 15th.

Varma will join Oregon University’s Women’s Golf Team in 2022 and would be a strong addition to any Indian women’s amateur team competition.
