Anirban Lahiri shot rounds of 73-73 to miss the cut by two shots in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Anirban Lahiri shot back-to-back rounds of 73 (6-over 146) to miss the cut by two shots in difficult conditions at the US$ 12mn PGA Championship at Southern Hills Golf Course in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The fact that the winners ended at only 5 under par for 72 holes, shows how difficult the conditions and the course played last week.

The two-time Olympian wasn’t sure he would play in the tournament because his wife Ipsa was expected to deliver their second child on May 22 – the final day of the PGA Championship.

However, baby boy Avyaan arrived safely ahead of schedule on Monday May 16th, so Lahiri could be by his wife’s side for the delivery. The 34-year-old then flew out to Tulsa on the 17th night for some last-minute preparation before the event.

This was Lahiri’s first major appearance since the 2019 U.S. Open, where he also missed the cut. Over the course of his career, Lahiri has played in 17 Major Championships, with his best finish being a tie for fifth at the 2015 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.
