Atwal has now played 4 out of 5 Senior Major Golf Championships

India’s veteran golfing trailblazer Arjun Atwal added another chapter to his storied career by making the cut in his debut appearance at the U.S. Senior Open Championship. The 2025 edition, held from June 27–30 at the demanding Broadmoor Golf Club’s East Course in Colorado Springs, tested the seasoned field with its treacherous slopes and swirling mountain winds.

52-year-old Atwal, who earned his place in the 156-man field via Final Qualifying, finished tied-61st at 14-over 294 after a strong opening two days with rounds of 70-70-76-78. Despite fading over the weekend, the former PGA TOUR winner’s competitive fire still burns brightly on the senior stage.

While it was his rookie campaign, Atwal’s presence at The Broadmoor represented a significant milestone as he became the first Indian professional to qualify and make the cut in this championship’s history.

In total, 64 players survived the 36-hole cut from the original field of 156 with a cumulative scoring average of 73.2.

For Atwal, the result in Colorado adds valuable experience as he seeks to become a regular presence on the lucrative but highly competitive PGA TOUR Champions.
