AVT Champions Tour – David D’Souza is season No 1

David D’Souza capped a dominant week by winning the AVT Champions Tour finale at Jaypee Greens, Greater Noida, with a two-day total of 150, a victory that also sealed the Overall Champion Golfer of the Year title for the 2025–26 AVT season.

Noida’s Ashish Kapoor, Korean Kim Sanggun and 2025 season champion Sandeep Sandhu were all tied for 2nd on 151. Sandhu, who won the Asia Pacific Senior title in Indonesia last November, ended 2nd in the season long positions. Both David and Sandeep will now be sent by the AVT Tour to an international senior amateur event. The last 2-3 years seeing them travel to the South African Senior Amateur. 

Rahul Agarwal from DLF GC, Gurgaon claimed the 50–54 division with 155, edging Jaypee Green’s Monish Bindra by a shot. 

Amit Luthra captured the 65–69 title with 160, and Vijay Kumar won the 70+ category with 161, ahead of  2025 Asia Pacific 70 yr plus champion,  Gangesh Khaitan.

In the ladies’ division, Bangalore’s Paromita Mukherjee won the gross category yet again with 165, finishing three shots ahead of Delhi’s Pooja Ahluwalia.

Season-long Champion Golfer of the Year honours went to Paromita Mukherjee (Ladies), Vijay Kumar (70+), Dhananjay Date (65–69), Sandeep Singh Sandhu (60–64), Kim Sanggun (55–59) and Ashish Kapoor (50–54).

During the prize ceremony, seven leading Indian coaches — Ajay Gupta, Indrajit Bhalotia, Jaskirat Singh Grewal, Karan Bindra, Nonita Lal Qureshi, Romit Bose and Vijay Divecha — were honoured for their contribution to Indian golf and their role in establishing the National Golf Academy of India.
