Amandeep Drall receiving the winner’s cheque & trophy from Nooralla Patel-GM, Clover Greens
Clover Greens Golf Club, near Bengaluru, showcased its recent course redesign by hosting professional events in consecutive weeks — the Rs 1 crore prize money PGTI Players Championship and the Rs 14 lacs Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour (HWPGT) 12th Leg.
The men teed it up first on the par-72, 6,890-yard layout, where Chandigarh’s Yuvraj Sandhu shot a record 28-under to win in a playoff over Olympian Udayan Mane. Just a week later, the women’s event was staged on the shorter 6,175-yard course, where 32-year-old Amandeep Drall of Panchkula triumphed at 2-under 214 with rounds of 75-68-71.
Drall edged 18-year-old Ananya Garg of Pune by two shots, while overnight co-leaders Khushi Khanijau (76) and amateur Mannat Brar (80) slipped down the board. The week’s highlight included a hole-in-one by Coimbatore’s Anaggha Venkatesh on the par-3 11th.
The ₹11.67 lakh winner’s cheque lifted Drall to second on the Hero WPGT money list behind leader Vani Kapoor. With this, she became the third multiple winner this season after Kapoor and Sneha Singh.
The two tournaments have put the spotlight on the Clover Greens – the latest course to upgrade itself to championship quality and is set, along with Zion Hills, on the outskirts of Bangalore, to help further expand the thriving Bangalore golf scene.
