The DP World India Championship will return in 2026, as the European Tour confirmed an extension of its long-term partnership with title sponsor DP World . The US$ 4 million event made its debut at Delhi Golf Club last month, drawing some of the largest crowds seen at a golf tournament in India and a world-class field led by World No. 2 Rory McIlroy and eventual winner Tommy Fleetwood.
McIlroy, in whose name the Tour has launched the new Rory McIlroy Award for the best-performing DP World Tour member across the four majors, spoke warmly about his first visit to India.
“I enjoyed it, I had a great time in India,” he said. “The hospitality, the welcome, the generosity of the people there, it was absolutely amazing.”
Asked for his highlight of the week, he added: “I would say the Diwali party on the Friday night and being able to spend some time with Sachin Tendulkar, that was a pretty big highlight.”
Yuvraj Narayan, Group Deputy CEO and CFO of DP World, said the India event underlined the company’s wider goals. He described the championship as an example of “supporting the game’s growth and accessibility for the long term” and a way to connect new markets and communities through golf.
