The relaunched Asian Tour is in Singapore this week for the penultimate event of its 2020-2021 season – The US$ 1mn Singapore International at Tanah Merah Country Club to be played from Jan. 13 to 16.

A total of 20 Indian pros had originally entered the tournament, including Shiv Kapur, Shubhankar Sharma, Ajeetesh Sandhu, Rashid Khan, Chikkarangappa S, S.S.P. Chawrasia, Jyoti Randhwa, Jeev Milkha Singh, Udayan Mane and Veer Ahlawat. However, Gaganjeet Bhullar, tested positive for Covid and will not be playing in the event. Aadil Bedi’s name has been withdrawn from the tournament as well, bringing India’s participation down to 18.

The 25-year-old Ahlawat finished tied-8th at the previous Asian Tour event – the US$1 mn Blue Canyon Championship in Phuket in November. That was one of two events the Tour held in Phuket following a 20-month suspension of the Tour because of the Covid pandemic. The tour will now conclude it’s extended 2020-2021 season in Singapore.

The Tour has also released a schedule list of four events for the new 2022 season including the US$ 5 mn Saudi International and hopes to release its full 2022/2023 schedule at the end of January, though the recent surge of cases caused by the Omicron variant might still play spoilsport. The tour had earlier revealed that their Saudi investors, Liv Investments, will guarantee 10 tournaments each year with US$1 million purses for the next ten years.
