Saptak slipped to Tied-44th in Switzerland

It was a tough week for Indian professionals on European soil as both Veer Ahlawat of Gurgaon and Shubhankar Sharma of Chandigarh endured missed cuts at the $2.75 million KLM Open on the DP World (European) Tour, while Delhi’s Saptak Talwar faded on the final day of the Swiss Challenge on the European Challenge (HotelPlanner) Tour.

DP World Tour
Held at The International in Amsterdam from June 5–8, the KLM Open saw 2024 India No. 1 Ahlawat, who had posted a season-best tied-13th finish at the Austrian Alpine Open the previous week, and 2-time DPWT winner Sharma missing the cut.

This marked Sharma’s sixth consecutive missed cut and his 10th in 14 starts this season, continuing a troubling trend for the 28-year-old, while Veer, 29, has also missed five cuts this year in 12 starts and will look to regroup ahead of the next event.

European Challenge (HotelPlanner) Tour
India’s lone representative on the 2nd-rung HotelPlanner Challenge Tour this season, 26-year-old Saptak Talwar, finished with a poor 78 after starting with  69-69-68 to plummet to 44th at even-par 284.

The top-20 finishers on the Challenge Tour earn full DP World (European) Tour cards for 2026, which is the ultimate goal.

Next Up
All three Indians are expected to tee it up next on their respective tours:

  • Veer and Shubhankar will aim for redemption at the $3 million Italian Open (June 26–29).
  • Saptak continues his Challenge Tour campaign at the €300,000 event in the Czech Republic from June 13–16.
