Gangesh shines at Asia-Pacific Seniors in Vietnam

(L-R) Sandeep Singh Sandhu, Team Captain Gangesh Khaitan, Gaurav Ghosh, and Hemanta Panging at the APGC Senior Amateur Championship this year

Team captain Gangesh Khaitan took individual honors in his age category while the four-member Team India achieved a reasonable tied-fifth finish at the 2024 Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Senior Amateur Championships held at Vinpearl Golf, outside Hanoi, in Vietnam.

For India, Sandeep Singh Sandhu of Chandigarh, the reigning All India Senior Champion was India’s best performer with a T16 finish individually, with RCGC’s Jaideep Singh only a shot behind at T18. Sandhu was in contention, sitting just two strokes off the leader after the second round at 2-under-par.

Delhi’s Gangesh Khaitan, who has won the All India Seniors several times, dominated the 70+ age group, winning by an impressive 15 strokes with the best score each day. Khaitan’s exceptional performance solidifies his stature in the senior golf circuit, and reinforces his competence as Team Captain – India Golf Weekly report.

Australia, as expected, emerged as the dominant force, with both their men’s and women’s teams defending their titles.
