The 2024 SUSTAIN seminar
The Golf Course Superintendents and Managers Association of India (GCS&MAI), in partnership with Game of Life Sports, is set to host SUSTAIN 2025—a focused seminar on sustainable turf and irrigation practices on May 24, at the Qutab Golf Club in New Delhi.
SUSTAIN stands for “Sustainable Upkeep for Superior Turf And Irrigation Needs,” and aims to bring together course superintendents, industry experts, and golf management professionals for a detailed exchange on environmental responsibility in golf course operations.
The event begins with the GCS&MAI Annual General Meeting, followed by the main seminar.
Focus on Water Management, Turf Health, and Sustainability
At a time when environmental pressures and operational costs continue to challenge golf course maintenance across India, SUSTAIN 2025 is positioned as a vital industry conversation. The seminar will feature insights on minimizing water usage, adopting efficient irrigation technologies, and enhancing turf quality without reliance on harmful chemicals.
Keynote speakers for the event include:
- Mr. David Williamson, Commercial Director, Howardson Group (joining online)
- Mr. Rishabh Jain, Founding Director, Integrated Flowtech Pvt. Ltd.
- Dr. Peeyush Kumar, Technical Director, Compo Expert
SUSTAIN 2025 builds on the success of previous GCS&MAI initiatives, further reinforcing the association’s role in promoting environmental awareness within the Indian golf ecosystem. With support from industry partners like TOROand Surge Systems, this year’s edition looks to deepen conversations around actionable change and knowledge-sharing.
In recent years, Indian golf facilities have made strides in adopting sewage-treated water systems and reducing chemical dependencies. However, speakers are expected to highlight additional opportunities for improvement, including native grass adoption, soil regeneration, and community engagement in course upkeep.
The event is being co-hosted with Game of Life Sports, under the leadership of Samant Sikka and Amit Kharabanda. Their collaboration with GCS&MAI continues to elevate the dialogue around building more resilient and resource-efficient golf landscapes across the country.
SUSTAIN 2025 is anticipated to set the tone for a greener, more responsible future in Indian golf—where environmental stewardship is as integral to course operations as playability and aesthetics.
