IGU – Anshul wins Northern India Championship

Kolkata golfer Anshul Mishra claimed the IGU Northern India Amateur Golf Championship 2026 title after a strong closing round at Panchkula Golf Club.Mishra carded rounds of 72-70-71-69 to finish at 6-under 282, sealing the victory with his best round of the week in the final round.

The Kolkata golfer, ranked third on the Indian Golf Union rankings in 2025, produced a composed finish to secure the championship.

Harjai Milkha Singh, son of four-time European Tour champion and Indian golf legend Jeev Milkha Singh of Chandigarh, who had led after the second and third rounds, slipped in the final round with a 76. His rounds of 73-66-69-76 gave him a total of 4-under 284, finishing runner-up.

Vinamra Anand of Uttar Pradesh finished third at even par 288 after rounds of 73-74-67-74. His 67 in the third round was the lowest score of the tournament.

Punjab’s Vishavjeet Singh (75-71-73-71) finished fourth at 290, while Krish Chawla of Chandigarh (74-76-71-71) took fifth place at 292.

Last year, Mishra competed in 26 ranked events, winning six titles — the Bengal Amateur (April), CFL Amateur Open (June), Mahitosh Ray Memorial Amateur Open (September), Southern India Amateur (September), Gujarat Amateur (November) and the Eastern India Junior Boys Championship (November).

He also represented India in several international events, finishing fifth at the Junior Dubai Desert Classic, 12th at the Royal Junior in Japan, seventh at the Singapore Junior Golf Championship, tied second at the FCG Callaway World Championship in the United States, and tied seventh at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship.
