Anshul Mishra from Kolkata finished runner-up in his age category Boys 15-18
Eight junior golfers represented India at the 17th annual FCG Callaway World Championship in Rancho Mirage, California, with standout performances across age groups.
13-year-old Danish Verma, originally from Ludhiana, Punjab and now training under renowned coach Jesse Grewal in Chandigarh, led the Indian contingent. Competing in the Boys 13–14 category, Verma fired rounds of 68-63-70 to finish at 15-under 201, winning by a stroke. His second-round 63 was the lowest round of the tournament.
In the Boys 15–18 division, Anshul Mishra of Kolkata, currently ranked 11th on the IGU junior circuit, finished joint runner-up at 12-under 204 with rounds of 67-70-67. Krish Chawla of Panchkula added to the Indian presence with a T-10 finish at 6-under 210 (71-67-72).
8-year-old Neehal Cheema, the youngest Indian in the field, impressed in the 27-hole format with scores of 34-32-35, finishing third at 7-under 101.
Danish Verma’s win adds to his growing list of titles. Earlier this year, he claimed the IGU Rajasthan Junior Boys Championship at Rambagh Golf Club with rounds of 72-71-69-70 for a total of 282 (2-over par). In 2024, he won the US Kids Thailand Championship at 3-under (70-74-69) and followed it with victory at the FCG Callaway World Championship in the Boys 11–12 division with rounds of 65-64-70, finishing at 17-under 199.
The event featured 300+ players from 20 countries across 10 age categories—an ideal proving ground for India’s rising stars.
