Ranveer bagged the Gold Medal in Macau for the fifth time

India’s 24-year-old autistic golfer Ranveer Singh Saini, whose journey has become one of the most inspiring stories in Indian Golf, captured the Gold Medal at the prestigious Golf Masters Tournament in Macau for a record fifth time, held last month from June 20-26.

The testing conditions at the MIG Championship Course in Macau were rife with pouring rain, heavy humidity, and soaring heat that created a cauldron for the 47 elite golfers with intellectual disabilities who teed it up from across the globe. The field boasted players from Australia, South Korea, UK, Thailand, Finland, New Zealand, US, Costa Rica, and Hong Kong.

Ranveer’s latest triumph adds yet another chapter to a career that has been nothing short of extraordinary. Diagnosed with autism at the age of 2, he’s spent years defying odds on and off the golf course. He’s an eleven-time National Champion and a five-time Asia Pacific Champion, amassing a collection of titles that would be the envy of any athlete.

He’s also carved his name into history books: Ranveer is the only golfer to achieve a hat-trick of medals across three consecutive Special Olympics World Games in 2015, 2019, and 2023. His memorable performance in Berlin at the 2023 Special Olympics, alongside playing partner Rahul Agarwal, won gold for India by a stunning 18-shot margin—the largest winning gap ever recorded in the event’s history.

Ranveer’s achievements have already sparked a shift in how Indian sport views inclusion and accessibility. His success helps challenge stereotypes and brings visibility to athletes who often go unrecognized.
