Aussie star Min Woo Lee won his maiden PGA TOUR title
3-time European Tour winner Min Woo Lee is making waves on and off the course. The 26-year-old Australian secured his first PGA TOUR victory at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, last week. Lee closed with a final-round 3-under 67 to finish at a tournament-record 20-under 260, edging out world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Gary Woodland by a single stroke.
Brother of 8-time LPGA TOUR winner and 2-time Major champion Minjee Lee, the sibling duo is the first brother/sister pair to win the USGA‘s Junior Championships, with Min Woo Lee winning the 2016 U.S. Junior Amateur and Minjee Lee having won the U.S. Girls’ Junior in 2012.
Much like Bryson DeChambeau, Lee is proving that players can balance TOUR success with an engaging social media presence. His dynamic online persona, filled with trick shots, behind-the-scenes moments, and humor, has earned him a massive following of almost 800,000 and made him one of golf’s most entertaining personalities.
With his first PGA TOUR win, Lee is proving that golf’s new generation can dominate both the leaderboard and the social media feed.
The victory, coming in his 56th career start, earned Lee $1.7 million and 500 FedExCup points, moving him to 16th in the standings. He now locks in spots for all remaining Signature Events this season and books his ticket to the 2026 edition of The Sentry. Already in the field for next week’s Masters, Lee now officially punches his ticket to the PGA Championship.
Woodland, who posted a course record-tying 8-under 62, secured his best finish since undergoing brain surgery in September 2023. His T-2 finish marked his first top-five since 2022.
Rory McIlroy, fresh off his playoff victory at THE PLAYERS Championship, closed with a 6-under 64 to finish in a four-way tie for fifth.
The PGA TOUR now shifts to the Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio from April 3-6, marking the final event before The Masters, the season’s first major.
