LIV Golf Qualifying in Florida

In order to offer players from around the world  a way to qualify for the lucrative 14 event LIV Tour, a LIV Golf Qualifying event, called LIV Promotions was held in Florida offering three wild cards for the 2026 LIV season.

The qualifiers were open to select players from the Asian Tour’s International Series and from American and European Tours. Around 150 players started the tournament, which had multiple cut offs after each round of the event.

Finally 35 year old Canadian Richard T. Lee, Sweden’s Björn Hellgren, and Anthony Kim emerged from a 36-hole shootout involving 22 players in the final round  to claim the 3 available spots.

The week unfolded under a firm warning from the PGA Tour, which denied conflicting-event releases to play the LIV Qualifier and confirmed that players without Tour status would face one-year bans from PGA Tour–sanctioned competition, including the 2026 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament, if they competed. At least one player withdrew after being informed of the penalty.

Anthony Kim, once a Ryder Cup star and world No. 6, Kim disappeared from the game after a career-altering Achilles injury in 2012. After years away and an uneven LIV return, he earned his way back to LIV golf with rounds of 66–69, finishing third on merit.

For LIV Golf, Promotions reaffirmed the open pathway which is required to apply for World Golf Rankings. For Kim, now 40, it marked a validation that he can still compete on the world stage despite all the setbacks in his career.
