Luke Donald named Europe captain for 2027 Ryder Cup

Luke Donald named Europe captain for a third time

Luke Donald has been named European captain for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in Limerick, Ireland.

The 48 year old Englishman led Team Europe to victory in the last two editions, beating the United States 16½–11½ at Marco Simone in Rome in 2023 and 15–13 at Bethpage, New York last year.

If Europe wins again in Ireland, Donald would become the first captain to lead a team to three consecutive Ryder Cup victories.

Donald knows the atmosphere awaiting in Ireland. He was part of Europe’s winning side at the 2006 Ryder Cup at The K Club, where he won all three of his matches.

Donald represented Europe four times as a player, contributing 10 1⁄2 points from 15 matches, and spent 56 weeks as World No. 1.

He was also in India last October for the DP World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club, attending alongside Ryder Cup teammates Shane Lowry, Rory McIlroy, Viktor Hovland and Tommy Fleetwood.
