The 2025 season teed off with the headline-grabbing US$2 million International Series India at DLF Golf & Country Club in Gurgaon—an event that marked the maiden India visit of 2024 U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau. DeChambeau arrived alongside his entire LIV team—Anirban Lahiri, Charles Howell III, and Paul Casey—while another LIV team led by Joaquin Niemann and featuring Mito Pereira, Sebastián Muñoz, and Carlos Ortiz, also joined the marquee field.
Fans turned out in good numbers to witness DeChambeau and the other LIV stars in action. Tickets—sold for the first time through a third-party platform, BookMyShow.com—sold well for all four days, prompting organizers to release additional batches that also disappeared within hours. The event marked several firsts for Indian golf: over 16 international stars in the field, the first-ever paid-entry golf tournament in India, and the return of the Asian Tour to Indian soil since the 2023 DGC Open, following its hiatus after the PGTI’s multi-year partnership with the DP World (European) Tour.
Joy for Indian fans went to another high with the US$4 million DP World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club in October, introduced as part of the DP World Tour’s global calendar. Headlining the star-studded field was popular 2025 Masters champion Rory McIlroy, who also completed his career Grand Slam earlier that year—becoming only the sixth male in history to achieve the feat. McIlroy was joined by Ryder Cup team-mates Tommy Fleetwood, Viktor Hovland, Shane Lowry and captain Luke Donald, all making the journey to India for the first time.
Once again, fans responded with enthusiasm. Tickets priced at ₹950 on weekdays and ₹1,100 on weekends sold out entirely via BookMyShow.com, with demand exceeding supply. The sold-out crowds and feverish atmosphere proved one thing beyond doubt: India is a golf-hungry nation. Bring in world-class fields, and fans will travel across states just to catch a glimpse of their heroes, whether Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy or the next global star to tee it up on Indian turf.
With the DP World India Championship already confirmed to return from October 15-18 at Delhi GC, the fan turnout in 2026 is expected to be even stronger.
