The Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour resumed last week after a 10-week summer break, with the 7th leg of the season taking place at the Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club (JWGC) in Mysuru from May 27-31. 32-year-old Amandeep Drall of Chandigarh, who was 2020-21 Rankings #1, returned to the winner’s circle to claim her first title of the year. She carded identical rounds of 71-71-71 to post a 54-hole total of 3-over 213, securing a two-stroke victory over Delhi’s Ridhima Dilawari.

This win extends Amandeep’s record of winning at least one domestic event every year since 2015. Now 3rd in the HWPGT Rankings, Drall trails Hyderabad’s Sneha Singh at No. 2 (currently competing in Europe) and Rankings leader Vani Kapoor of Gurgaon, who finished tied-3rd this week.

Entering the final round two shots behind overnight leader Rhea Purvi from Kolar, Drall remained steady while the rest of the field faltered under pressure. Rhea dropped five shots over the final six holes to fall out of contention. Drall, meanwhile, made pars on each of her last seven holes to close out the win.

26-year-old Ridhima mounted a final-round charge with a 1-under 69—one of the 3 sub-par rounds of the week—to finish 2nd at 5-over 215. This was Ridhima’s second runner-up finish this season with her last win being in 2022. Vani and Rhea Purvi shared 3rd place at 6-over 216.

This victory comes at an opportune time for 2022 Hero Women’s Indian Open runner-up Drall, who will be eyeing a return to the Ladies European Tour, having lost her card last season.
