30-year-old British Indian and PGA Tour winner Aaron Rai, now married to WGAI pro Gaurika Bishnoi from Delhi, carded rounds of 68-69-69-71 to finish T-23rd at the US$9.6 million Cognizant Classic in Florida, maintaining his perfect record of making the cut in all four starts this season.
The result is his best of the season so far, improving on last week’s tied 28th finish at the Genesis Invitational in California.
Rai is currently ranked 38th in the world and 85th in the FedEx Cup standings. Last season, he made 17 cuts in 21 starts and finished 55th in the FedEx Cup standings after a T-22nd finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the opening event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, narrowly missing out on advancing to the remaining playoff events.
Fellow players of Indian origin Akshay Bhatia and Sahith Theegala were not in the field this week.
