PGTI launches 72 The League; UP, Rajasthan on top

Kartik Singh continues to impress in all formats of the game

The DP World PGTI  launched 72 The League, with six teams of 10 PGTI pros per team, city-based matchplay competition featuring singles, fourballs and foursomes. Played across Classic Golf & Country Club and Jaypee Greens, in the capital, the format brings team golf and matchplay back to the domestic circuit after the Louis Philippe Cup had introduced the team based matchplay format a decade ago.

The League has already delivered compelling contrasts with Arjun Atwal, the only Indian winner on the PGA Tour till date, as the face of the league — 16-year-old Kartik Singh, the youngest in the field, halved a gripping singles match against in-form American Jhared Hack, while 61-year-old Mukesh Kumar continues to roll back the years for Kolkata Classics.

After three rounds, it has turned into a two-horse race. UP Prometheans and Rajasthan Regals are locked at the top with 32 points each after both teams swept their Round 3 matches 15-0. Nava Raipur kept their finals hopes alive with a 9-6 win over Charminar Champions.

Notably, all 15 matches in Round 3 produced outright results.

League Standings (After Round 3)

Position Team Points

T-1 UP Prometheans 32
3 Nava Raipur 23*
4 Charminar Champions 21

*One unfinished fourball match pending from Round 1.

The fourth round will further shape the race to the final, with UP and Rajasthan set for a potentially decisive showdown.
