The newly announced PGTI Team Golf League conducted its player auction in New Delhi on Feb. 16 — with six franchises armed with ₹1 crore each selecting 10 players each for their teams.
The league will be played over two weeks with 3 rounds each week at Classic Golf & Country Club – Gurgaon, Jaypee Greens in Greater Noida and Qutab Golf Course in Saket, New Delhi.
The headline buy was Honey Baisoya. Fresh off winning the Players Championship, he went under the hammer in the Platinum category (₹10 lakh base price) and ended up with the Delhi team named Capital Lancers for ₹20.5 lakh after a three-way bidding war with Rajasthan and Kolkata.
But the biggest jump came from Shubham Jaglan. Listed in the Silver pool at a base of ₹3 lakh, the 21-year-old who has completed four years of college golf at the University of Florida and has earned his Asian Tour playing rights for 2026, drew interest from all six franchises before Hyderabad’s Charminar Champions finally won him for ₹19 lakh — more than six times his base.
Arjun Prasad, who has quietly stacked two top-10s this month, was picked up by UP Prometheans for ₹18 lakh. 16 year old Kartik Singh was another hot property, with Mumbai Aces landing him for ₹14.40 lakh after a long bidding fight.
Among the international players, 35 year old American Jhared Hack, who won the PGTI Qualifying Tournament was the top foreign buy at ₹15.80 lakh, also joining Delhi’s Capital Lancers. In total, 12 overseas professionals from seven countries were drafted.
With the player auction complete, the stage is set for the League to get started. Prize money is expected to be Rs 5 crores to be divided among the top teams.
