Following an intense first half of the season, the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) has entered its traditional summer break, pausing tournament play from May through July. After a packed schedule from January to April, the Tour’s annual mid-season recess allows players and organisers to recalibrate before the second half of the year, typically resuming in August, although official dates are yet to be confirmed.
During the break, several Indian professionals are expected to participate in select Asian Tour and ADT (Asian Development Tour) events.
The second half of the PGTI season is expected to be pivotal, especially with the Rankings race heating up. Yuvraj Sandhu of Chandigarh currently leads the standings with Rs. 54 lakhs in earnings, holding a slender lead of Rs. 2 lakhs over his close friend and roommate on Tour, Arjun Prasad of Delhi, who sits at 3rd. Joshua Berry of England, a European Challenge Tour player, is in second place, bolstered by a win and a runner-up finish in the two co-sanctioned events held in India during March, followed by a 6th-place finish at the Hero Indian Open.
Women’s Tour Returns to Action in Mysore
The Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour (HWPGT) is set to return next week after a two-month hiatus. Leg 7 of the season will be played at the Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club in Mysore, from May 27–31.
The opening half of the HWPGT season was largely dominated by two players—Vani Kapoor of Gurgaon and Sneha Singh of Hyderabad—who collectively won five of the six events played this season.
With ranking points, prize purses, and lucrative rewards on the line, both tours are sure to deliver high-stakes competition and high-quality golf in the months ahead.
