PGTI – Yuvraj Sandhu wins fifth title of the season

Champion Yuvraj Sandhu (3rd from right) receives the trophy and cheque from Mr. A S Sahney, Chairman, IndianOil (2nd from right) and Mr. Kapil Dev, President, PGTI (3rd from left). The other dignitaries seen in the picture are Mr. Rahul Prashant, ED & RH, Digboi Refinery, IndianOil (extreme right), Mr. K John Prasad, ED (CC & Branding), MKHO, IndianOil (2nd from left) and Mr. Amandeep Johl, CEO, PGTI (extreme left)

Yuvraj Sandhu ended two straight playoff heartbreaks with a statement victory in Digboi, cruising to a seven-shot win at the IndianOil SERVO Masters for his fifth title of the season and a historic milestone on the PGTI.

The Chandigarh golfer closed with a steady three-under 69 to finish at 19-under 269, completing a wire-to-wire win at the 25th edition of the event.

The win also carried historic weight. Sandhu is now the first player in PGTI history to record five or more wins in two different seasons, adding 2025 to his breakout 2022 campaign. With his earnings moving past INR 1.21 crore, he has opened a commanding lead on the PGTI Order of Merit which will  earn him full playing rights in Europe for 2026.

“I kept telling myself to stay patient,” Yuvraj said. “The last two playoff losses hurt, but they were good lessons. Today was about trusting what I’ve been doing well.”

Bangladesh’s Jamal Hossain made the day’s biggest move with a superb 65 to finish second at 12-under, while Shaurya Bhattacharya, Saptak Talwar and former champion Veer Ahlawat shared third at 11-under. Bhattacharya’s finish pushed him up to No. 2 on the PGTI Ranking.

The leaderboard behind Sandhu again highlighted the depth of talent on the PGTI, with 18 players finishing under par and multiple young names in contention through the week. Even at the top, Sandhu’s margin was the result of excellence, not a lack of challengers.

“It’s always special here,” he said. “Digboi gave me my first win. To come back, play this well, and win big again means a lot.”

With this victory, Sandhu has firmly re-established himself as the player to beat in India — we all hope he can take full advantage when he enters the big leagues next year in Europe.
