Poona Club Golf Course clinched the 30th annual edition of the Grover Inter Club title with a commanding performance in this year’s highly anticipated contest played among the three Mumbai clubs and Poona GC.
Played over February 14 and 15 at PCGC, the annual event brought together four of Western Maharashtra’s leading clubs — Poona Club Golf Course, Willingdon Sports Club, Bombay Presidency Golf Club and United Services Club.
Poona Club finished on 35.5 points to secure the title, well clear of Willingdon Sports Club on 25.5 points. United Services Club took third at 24.5 points, while Bombay Presidency Golf Club ended fourth with 19 points. It marks Poona Club’s second triumph in recent years, having also lifted the trophy in 2022. No doubt the home course advantage helped the Pune club to the title. The venue revolves each year among the four clubs.
The Grover Inter Club is a long standing team contest featuring 25 players from each club, blending experience and emerging talent across formats.
Poona Club’s winning squad featured Golf Captain Jay Shirke, Team Captain Ikram Khan, Neeraj Gulati, Sushant Khosla, Nitesh Shindey, Sumedh Gangal, Ved Kakatkar, Avinash Deoskar, Ankit Mishra, Saurabh Roy, Vanyaa Singh, Yash Wadhawan, P C Kalia, Divesh Wadhawan, Apoorva Kishore, Aditya Pusalkar, Karthik Krishnaraj, Jia Kardbhajne, Mahesh Shahane, Sunil Shirole, Gaurav Pandit, Indrajit Chanda, Avnay Khanna, Anirudh Shrotriya and Abhijeet Ganu.
