Delhi’s Rashid Khan is making his presence felt on the Asian Tour

Two-time Asian Tour winner Rashid Khan of Delhi shot 71-66-69-69 (13-under 275) to finish in a tie for 10th at the inaugural US$ 750,000 Trust Golf Asian Mixed Cup at Siam Country Club, in Pattaya, Thailand.

The tournament was sensationally won by 15 year old Thai amateur Ratchanon Chantananuwat, who created history by becoming the youngest ever winner on the Asian Tour at 15 years and 37 days when he shot 63-70-70-65 (20-under 268) to claim the title.

Khan picked up US$ 12,975 (₹ 9.85 lacs) and moved to 21st on the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit.

Six of the ten Indians in the field made the cut. Ajeetesh Sandhu, who finished runner-up at the DGC Open shot 72-67-68-72 (9-under 279) to finish tied-30th. Chikkarangappa S & Viraj Madappa finished tied-44th at 7-under 281, followed by Diksha Dagar (2-under 286) & Tvesa Malik (Even-par 288) to finish tied-65th and tied-68th respectively.

The Indian pros who failed to make the cut at 2-under 142 included –

Gaganjeet Bhullar – 74-70

Shiv Kapur – 71-74

Aman Raj – 70-75

S.S.P. Chawrasia – 71-75

The tour will play its next event, the US$ 750,000 Trust Golf Asian Mixed Stableford Challenge, from April 13-16 at the same venue in Thailand.

There is little doubt that with Thailand holding the majority of tournaments on the Asian Tour since it restarted in 2022, the Thai players are enjoying their home turf advantage.
