20-year-old Shubham earned full exemption on PGA TOUR Americas
In a rare bright spot for Indian men’s golf in 2025, 20-year-old Shubham Jaglan from Delhi brought some cheer by earning his playing rights on the PGA TOUR Americas after a brilliant showing at the USA Midwest Qualifying Tournament, held from June 3–6 in Indiana.
Jaglan, who recently graduated with a degree in finance from the University of South Florida (USF), delivered a bogey-free final round of 8-under 64 to finish tied-8th at 17-under 271 (69-70-68-64), earning a place in a multi-way playoff. He birdied the fifth playoff hole to claim one of the full status cards awarded to the top-9 finishers at the site, securing his spot on the North American Swing of PGA TOUR Americas.
This tour was formed last season by combining PGA TOUR Latinoamérica and PGA TOUR Canada. The developmental tour runs in two segments: the Latin America Swing (March–May) and the North America Swing (June–September). Players finishing in the top 120 of the season-long Fortinet Cup standings will qualify for the season finale, and the top 10 will graduate to the Korn Ferry Tour with full status. Up to five more conditional Korn Ferry cards will also be awarded based on segment performance.
Earlier this season, Jaglan became the first Indian golfer to win an NCAA Division I college event, capturing the individual title at the Linger Longer Invitational with a 12-under 204 total score across 54 holes, which included a career-best round of 64.
His consistent performances helped the USF Bulls secure a place in the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships. Praised by coach Steve Bradley as “one of the more mature kids I’ve ever coached,” Jaglan has shown a strong analytical approach to the game since he moved to the U.S. at age 16 to pursue collegiate golf.
With his PGA TOUR Americas card now in hand, Jaglan will tee it up in the North American Swing through the summer, aiming to climb the points standings and position himself for a Korn Ferry Tour card at season’s end. Should he finish inside the top 10 of the Fortinet Cup standings after all 15 events, he will earn full Korn Ferry Tour membership for 2026 and become one step closer to the PGA TOUR. Dubai born-and-bred Rayhan Thomas, an Indian national, is the only other Indian playing on the Korn Ferry Tour.
Jaglan now joins a short list of Indians making progress through American developmental golf and remains one of the brightest prospects for Indian golf on the international stage.
