Sukhman honours father’s legacy with All India Amateur title

Sukhman Singh’s win was decided on the 29th hole at Tollygunge

Noida’s Sukhman Singh fulfilled a family dream, powering to a 7 & 6 win over Haryana’s Harman Sachdeva in the 36-hole final of the IGU 124th All India Amateur Golf Championship—one of the world’s longest-running amateur events —at Tollygunge Club, Kolkata.

Son of former India No. 1 Amateur, Simarjeet Singh—a three-time Sri Lanka Amateur champion and IGU Mid-Amateur winner—Sukhman said “It still feels like a dream—someone pinch me,” he beamed post-match. “Dad never stopped pushing or believing when I faltered. Time for family to rejoice.”

His strategy? Sustained aggression over 36 holes against a “tough competitor” he dreaded in the final.

The crown caps a solid season: IGU Rajasthan Amateur win, Andhra Pradesh runner-up, fourth in South Africa stroke play, sharpened by international tests in SA and Japan.
