Indian golfers have something to look forward to from an unexpected quarter – the European Legends Tour, with two of the country’s most experienced golfers, Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee Jeev Milkha Singh and 8-time Asian Tour winner Jyoti Randhawa, making their place on the tour a regular fixture.
3-time Hero Indian Open winner Jyoti Randhawa had made history earlier last year by becoming the first Indian to win the Senior European Tour’s Qualifying Tournament with a total score of 12-under-par, ensuring him the top spot in Turkey after a glorious week at Gloria Golf Club to earn his playing rights for the year. The 2024 season saw him play 9 events, closing out the year at the 30th position in the Legends Tour’s MCB Road to Mauritius rankings.
4-time European Tour winner Jeev Milkha Singh, who had joined the Legends Tour in 2022, continued to perform consistently with 13 appearances, and finished 26th in the season rankings. His best result had come on home soil with a tied-third finish at the inaugural US$500,000 HSBC India Legends Championship hosted by Jeev Milkha Singh, which took place at the Jaypee Greens Golf Resort in Greater Noida from August 30 to September 2024.
With larger prize pools and the promise of the Legends tour staging more tournaments in India, we might see a win from either Jeev or Randhawa or both as these Indian legends continue to inspire the next generation of Indian golfers.
The Legends Tour – watch for Jeev Milkha Singh
