Theegala starts 2026 in top form

Sahith Theegala opened his 2026 PGA Tour campaign with strong finishes

Sahith Theegala has opened the 2026 PGA TOUR season with back-to-back top-10 finishes, a sharp reset after an injury-hit 2025.

The 28-year-old Indian-origin Californian followed a tied-eighth at The American Express (21under) with a tied-seventh at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, finishing at 14-under. His rounds of 66-69-73-66 earned him 85 FedExCup points and lifted him to 12th in the early-season standings.

Theegala’s surge is a reminder of the potential  he has already shown on tour. The 2020 NCAA college national player of the year earned his PGA TOUR card for the 2021–22 season by finishing eighth at the Korn Ferry Tour Finals, then captured his maiden TOUR title at the Fortinet Championship in September 2023.

He took a bigger step in 2024, playing 26 events and making 22 cuts. Theegala finished runner-up twice — at The Sentry in January and the RBC Heritage in April — and added seven more top-10s to end the year third in the FedExCup standings.

Last season went the other way. He played much of 2025 while managing an injury before eventually stepping away, finishing 147th in the FedExCup and missing the playoffs despite 17 cuts made in 23 starts and a best finish of tied 17th.

Now healthy — and recently engaged to long-time partner Juju Chan — Theegala’s opening fortnight suggests he is building back toward the level that made him one of the TOUR’s most consistent performers in 2024.
