Paramjit Singh was recognised for his long standing contribution to Indian golf, receiving the Vocational Excellence Award from Rotary Club of Madras T Nagar in the presence of tennis legend Vijay Amritraj in Chennai on March 30.
For over a decade, Paramjit has been one of the key figures working quietly behind the scenes. As a tournament director with the Indian Golf Union since 2012, he has officiated nearly 40 to 45 tournaments every year, ensuring events run smoothly across the country.
He was also involved in course marking for the recently concluded Hero Indian Open, contributing to one of India’s biggest professional events. However, Singh prefers working at the grassroots level, choosing to work with junior golfers who need to learn more.
“Professionals already know the rules,” he says. “I enjoy working at developmental events where we can guide parents and help young players take the next step.”
That philosophy has defined his journey — focusing on junior and amateur golf, where his experience can make the biggest difference.
The award is a fitting recognition of years of dedication to the game, highlighting the impact of those who help shape players long before they reach the spotlight.
