Viraj Madappa to become the first Indian to play at LIV Golf International event this week

Viraj Madappa shot 68-70-70-71 (5-under 279) to finish tied 6th at the Asian Tour’s historic first ever event on European soil, the US$ 2mn International Series England at Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort in Newcastle.

The 24-year-old from Kolkata not only earned US$ 57,533 (44.5 lacs approx.), but qualified him for the inaugural US$25 million LIV Golf International event from June 9-11 at the Centurion Club in London which features stars such as Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Kevin Na and others.

Meanwhile Gaganjeet Bhullar shot 72-70-69-72 (1-under 283) to finish tied 23rd and miss out by just one spot for the Liv International invitation due to his overall ranking on the Asian Tour.

The tournament was won by Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent, who beat Australia’s Travis Smyth by a shot.

A total of eight Indians out of 15 made the cut in England. The players who made the cut were:

The Asian Tour’s next stop is the 64th Korea Open Golf Championship from June 23-26.
