India’s juniors delivered encouraging performances at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Junior Championship, held from May 27–29 at the historic Old Course at Hong Kong Golf Club, Fanling. The flagship regional event featured 61 players from 16 nations and territories, competing in Boys, Girls, and Mixed-Gender Team formats over 54 holes of stroke play.

The Indian team, sent by the Indian Golf Union (IGU), comprised four players—two boys and two girls—competing for both individual and team honours in one of the most prestigious junior championships in the Asia-Pacific region.

Strong showing from Ranveer Mitroo and Saanvi Somu
In the Boys’ Division, 16-year-old Ranveer Mitroo of Delhi emerged as the top Indian performer, finishing Tied-5th with rounds of 69-69-73 for a total of 2-under 211. Despite battling challenging weather conditions that included heavy morning showers and an afternoon downpour, Mitroo maintained consistency over all three rounds and stayed in contention throughout.

Chandigarh’s 16-year-old Krish Chawla closed with a total of 6-over 219 to finish Tied-22nd. India finished in 5th place in the team competition.

In the Girls’ Division, Bangalore’s Saanvi Somu posted a 10th-place finish with scores totaling 5-over 218, while Kashika Mishra of Odisha closed at 17-over 230, placing 19th in the individual standings. The Indian girls’ team ended the week in 7th position in the team standings.

India’s overall performance in Hong Kong this week is down from last year’s edition, where Mumbai’s Nishna Patel finished Tied-2nd, and Bangalore’s Avani Prashanth placed T-8th in the Girls’ event. In the 2023 Boys’ category, Jujjhar Singh and Sukhman Singh had placed T-6th and 18th respectively.

This year’s Top-10 finishes from Mitroo and Somu were their own personal bests but the omission of India’s top juniors from the squad for unknown reasons—Kartik Singh from Gurgaon and Zara Anand from Noida—definitely hurt India’s chances of podium finishes.
