My Journey on the LET: Part – II

0

After my event in Spain, I travelled to France and Switzerland for the LET/ LET Access events.

My first stop was at the Jabra Ladies Open at the beautiful Evian Resort Golf Club. Evian Golf Course is a stunning track that overlooks Lake Geneva. We had the opportunity to play the golf course as it is set up for the LPGA’s fifth and final major championship at Par 71 and 6,481 yards. The week of the event was predicted to be a wet one, but it turned out to be bright and sunny- ideal weather for playing golf. My game that week was not what I had hoped for as I felt the nerves early in my opening round. My second round was steadier as I did a better job of staying in the present but a few mental errors over the two days cost me to miss the cut by a few shots. I knew I was getting closer but still not where I wanted to be.

I took this opportunity to recharge my batteries as I went to explore the city on foot and what better way of doing that other than visiting the Cachet Spring- which is the most famous natural source of Evian water- set up in the middle of the city where you can fill up your bottles with fresh Evian water. On this adventure, I also came across a wonderful French lady and her daughter (who is half-Indian). They surprised me by running back to their car to bring me some desi chai (Indian tea) that they had prepared for their outing at Lake Geneva. It was such a nice way to wrap up my experience in Evian.

The next day I drove with another player across the lake to Switzerland for the Lavaux Ladies Championship. This week’s accommodation resulted in 5 of us players from 5 different countries staying together- India, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, and Iceland. We all got along and enjoyed our week together despite having to organize our schedule around what kind of parking we could find in the city as there were limited spaces and for limited times only.

After being on the road for two weeks and having missed cuts, I was looking forward to changing the momentum. During the two practice rounds, I was only able to get in 13 holes due to limited tee times, pro-am rounds, and heavy rain. However, I was able to get out and walk the remaining 5 holes in the rain and make some notes. I took this moment to pause and be okay with everything that was going on. I learned to adjust to my situation, let go of the stress and make the most of what I had. I played steady golf in my first round but hit a speed bump of 2 bogeys on consecutive par 5’s towards the end of my round which led to some frustration. I stayed patient and was able to find my groove. I played very steady golf for the next two days as I made the cut. Focusing on what I could control helped me play my game and enjoy my rounds as I left everything out on the course.

I am glad to have finished my Europe trip on a positive note and in good company.

I am currently T-6 after Day 1 with a score of 73 at the Leg 7 of the WGAI event in Bengaluru and will be playing the Leg 8 at the Prestige Golfshire, scheduled for the next week. It’s good to be back home.
