Former top-ranked US junior, 19-year-old Indian-American Akshay Bhatia shot rounds of 64-73-72-73 (6-under 282) to finish tied-30th at the US$ 7.8mn AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links in California.
Bhatia’s opening round of 64 consisted of eight birdies, making him the first player since 2008 to hit every green in regulation at Pebble.
Bhatia, who turned pro straight out of high school, turned pro in 2020 and has played five events in the 2021 season of the PGA TOUR, making three cuts, with his best finish of tied-9th coming at the US$ 6.6mn Safeway Open in Sep. 2020. It will be exciting to see young Akshay develop in stature as a player.
