34-year-old Anirban Lahiri defended his top 125 place in the Fedex Cup rankings on the PGA Tour by making the cut and finishing tied-46th at the US$ 6.4mn Wyndham Championship with scores of  67-69-67-70 (7-under 273).  His US$ 18,000 (₹ 13.3 lacs) cheque brought his regular season earnings to US$930,661 (₹ 6.9 crores) to rank 121st and qualify for the season ending playoffs for the Fedex Cup for the first time in his career.

Lahiri qualified with three-top 10s, and 11 cuts in 21 events played,  including the all important 3rd place finish at the US$ 3.5mn Barbasol Championship last month

Lahiri joined the PGA Tour in 2016 through the Korn Ferry Tour (KFT) finals in late 2015 and will be playing a FedExCup playoff event for a third time. The playoffs start with the US$ 9.5mn Northern Trust in New Jersey from August 19-22. From there the Top-70 become eligible for the US$ 9.5mn BMW Championship and after that the Top-30 for The Tour Championship to conclude the season.

Anirban took a huge gamble missing three weeks of PGA Tour events to represent India at the Tokyo Olympics and India Golf Weekly congratulates him for his success and wishes him the best in this week’s playoff event.
