After qualifying fabulously for the US$4.5 million AIG Women’s Open with a 4 under 68, Aditi Ashok did well to make the halfway cut with scores of 71 & 74 on an extremely long and tough Carnoustie course, very close to St Andrews, Scotland. She then followed it up with rounds of 75-75 for a 7-over total 295 to finish tied-61st.

Aditi, currently ranked 83rd on the LPGA Rankings known as Race to CME Globe, needs to finish inside the Top 80 to keep her full LPGA playing rights in 2022 and inside the Top-72 to be eligible to play the US$ 5mn Tour Championship on November 18-21.

Aditi has seven tournaments left in the 2021 season, of which three are in different countries; Buick LPGA – Shanghai, China, BMW Ladies Open – Busan, South Korea, and Toto Japan Classic – Shiga, Japan. In 2021, Aditi has so far played 14 events, made cuts in nine and earned US$ 130,000 (₹94.2 lacs) on the LPGA Tour.

Aditi’s statistics tell her story as she lags in distance but gains in accuracy off the tee. And she makes up for her poor Greens in Regulation ranking by standing 11th in putting. Hope to see her use the off season to gain some strength and power so that she can improve in these areas in the 2022 season and contend 3 years from now at the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Aditi Ashok 2021 season stats –

Driving Distance – 238.23 – 159th

Driving Accuracy – 77.48% – 19th

Greens in Regulation – 61.40% – 152nd

Putting Average – 29.11 – 11th
