Avani seems unstoppable this year

15 year old Avani Prashanth, and 17 year old Sneha Singh finished 1st and 2nd, one stroke apart at the Telangana Ladies Championship  played at HGA, in Hyderabad. Avani finished at 2 over par,  212 over three rounds,  with Sneha a stroke behind.

Prashanth, who recently became the first Indian to play in the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur, also claimed the overall ladies and Category A title, with Singh finishing runner-up as well. The event was played at Hyderabad Golf Club.

Sneha began the final round three strokes behind Prashanth and made a triple on the first hole to fall five shots back. But she fought back to not only catch Prashanth, but lead by one  one after 13 holes. However, Prashanth held her nerve to retake the lead and ultimately claim the title

“[It] was great to see the spirit of the girls and the confidence and maturity,” Singh’s father, Sanjay Singh, who coaches at HGA said. “The best thing was neither of them gave up”.
